what bullshit. i just found out that 2 of the most underserving people on the face of this planet have recieved the btz (below the zone) award. this is an award that awards you with a promotion to e-4 6 months early. anyways, the fuckers that got this were the laziest fucks ever. they are absolutely the worst workers ive seen, and couldnt be more underserving. but i see how flawed this entire fucking airforce is, and how political the branch is. i fucking hate it. I see this bullshit happening everyday, but this pissed me off the most. i literally hate this branch. since when does kissing ass and sucking dick and volunteering for EVERYTHING merit you a very rare award (less than 2% of airman in the airforce get this) over a guy who is an extroardinary worker and is all around a better person? this is how it works. you suck shit at your job, but you kiss ass everychance you get, ride the nuts of your superiors, volunteer for things so people see your face at "squadron events" all the time, and have your rater put a bunch of bullshit words in your package. im goingup for this award next october, but now i honestly dont want it.
all it is is extra money to me. the award no longer carries a significant meaning. winning this puts me in the same category and standing as these 2 fucks. its bullshit. i have lost faith in my supervision all the way to the top. my shop, and my squadron. and i know its just the same everywhere else. im done doing anything to impress people. im just going to do my job the best i can, everyday. because that is all that SHOULD matter. and at the end of the day, thats all that does. thats all i care about, is how i perform. id rather have the approval and blessing of the old civilians here, than have the people who put these 2 airman were they are today to like me. everything has lost its meaning.

Dude, in the Army, I realized that people that get what they want, when they want, were the cocksuckers, and you just had to live with that fact, and know that you're a better person than they are in the end. It sucks that people can get by just by being like that, but unless you want to risk telling a superior officer or someone in your chain of command how you REALLY feel (possibly causing more issues for you in the future - in the Infantry its almost certain death), you might as well just ignore it and move on. I made E4 a little less than 2 years after enlisting (as an E1 mind you - my recruiter screwed me) and there were plenty of assbags that got it before me, even though they had arrived AFTER me, but it was all about the gag reflex, and their apparent ability to turn it off and take it hard and regular.

Well, All I can say is the Army is the same damn way.
Since they did volunteer for everything, does that mean that they did work? The military likes volunteers. It doesnt matter if youre a shitbag or what. I always said no when it came to volunteering. And after you find out what everyone else volunteered for, youre like, Damn, I wish I volunteered for that one. So the next time I would volunteer, I would get a shit detail. I have no luck with volunteering, so I just stay out of it completely. Hell, I did volunteer for the Army, right? HAHAH
Anyway, That shit is normal. I made my E-4 after only 9 months in with unshined boots. (I came in as an E-3 btw.) I was good in everything else, I just didnt spit-shine my boots, that was all. Does it really make me a better soldier for having shiny boots? No, not really. It pissed some people off too. I dont care. I did what I had to do and performed my assignments excellently.
Being in the Army, one wouldnt think that kinda shit goes on in the Air Force. I wanted to be a fighter pilot in the AF, but you gotta have college to be an officer and you have to be an officer to fly.
Just drink water and drive on

Yeah bro....it happens in all the branches a lot. Most of it has to do with leadership not doing their jobs. I made my e-5 in less than 3 years (came in as e-1), but that is because I busted my ass and pushed MYSELF forward. I MADE the leadership see that I was looking to get promoted. Believe it or not, I didn't even have to do an ass-kissing. I just pushed unitil I got what I want.
My thoughts to you is: just say fuck em man. Don't let yourself feel like it won't mean anything if you make the cut next time. Look at it as if they finally see your potential. And MAKE SURE that your direct leadership understands your discontent, but make sure to hold your military bearing, and that you are professional while still choosing words wisely. I know that with my soldiers in the past who have professionally voiced their opinions on their promotion timeline, I have taken an extra look at them when a waiver is available. I have pushed a little more to get them what they want; because that potential that they show in SAYING they are ready for that step, tells me that they have the potential to become a leader.

Dude, your're not alone.. The Navy has a CAP(Command Advancement Program) and the only guys that get it arethe guys who suck at their job, can't take tests for shit, and tend to kiss a lot of ass.. I think it's the same in every branch, bro..

BTZ is a joke. Like you said its an award for asskissing. Dont sweat it though, cause theres a 90% chance these retards are goingt to be the ones your going up against for the E5 test..and if you know your job that well you'll be the one pinning on e5 not them

thanks for all the help, i get real discouraged when i see this happening around me all the time. i would honestly give one of my stripes back, if it meant they didnt get one. thats how much they dont deserve it. id much rather be known for my skills, than things i have done on the side. i want to be depended on, and I like to have things expected of me.

Dude the services are all about politices, even down to the lowest level. You'll work your way through it and if you're really good at what you do, chances are you will be recongnized for it. Goodluck man, and don't let them get to you.
Damn everyone pretty much said it bro Screw tht I got demoted from E-5 to E-4 cause I told a LTC off it just so happened the dude was my Battalion Commander, I screwed myself but whatever I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut especially when I got a Damn 0-5 telling me what to do and that fucker hasn't been deployed once Sorry that just my opinion. The problem is in life if you wanna get somewhere high and fast in most places in this world you have to be a cock sucing fag.

Officers are no better then enlisted, and if you got something to say, then it should be said but in a professional manner. I hate that shit, they act like we can't talk to them. I've never been afraid to say what's on my mind.

A quick word of advice I got from my mentor and now retired CMSGT.
He told me "Dan, in the end the only ass your really kissing is your own"
For a long time i had no idea what that meant. Now I know. CHief was basiclly telling me to realize that being a "whole person" in the long run only really benefited me.
Dont worry about everyone else, worry about you. Just like no one wants a guy who has no clue on his job and only knows "extra activities" no one wants a guy who ONLY knows his job and nothing else. When you become a manager at later levels your going to have to know something more then just your job. Makes you well rounded.
