I was on duty the night before last, and all of a sudden when I accelerated from a stop, my engine started a steady series of explosive pops, almost like a machine gun. When I opened the hood, the sound seemed to be coming from the top of the engine, in the area of the cylinders. Not sure exactly what it is yet. A contributing factor may have been the several times in the last couple of months that I have been responding to calls, staying steady on the governer at 120 mph for about 3-5 miles.... that and the car has 117K miles on it. :rotfl:
Maybe I'll get a newer car now.... :beg:

Oh yea, they get used! I responded to a call for a robbery one night about a month ago, and I was on Rt. 210 at 3 a.m. rolling 120 mph (maxed out) for about 5 or 6 miles. It was freaking funny feeling that thing hit the governer every 10 seconds or so....

Not every car has a governer. One of my coworkers was running one night, and his radar was indicating 137 mph! :rotfl:

I've heard guys on other departments that have the Impala police cars say that they can reach 140-145 mph.

I ran with an Impala Police Car a few weeks ago that belongs to a buddy on a "Closed Course" and it didnt get anywhere near 145. I think he was a distant memory at about 135 and at 160 I couldnt even see his blue lights. bwhahahahaha

*update*
I found out today that the motor didn't blow up. Apparently, one of the spark plugs came out. All of the plugs, wires and coil were replaced. Runs fine now. Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'.

I've got the Uparmored Humvee's to about 50-60 in a chase before... What a rush
I can't wait to take our Impala's on the Autobahn for the first time. I'll come back with reports :D

Hehe...I've driven a Humvee on Suitland Parkway in DC at 60 mph. It wouldn't go any faster. :rotfl:

I've been in a Hummvee going over 80 before.. granted it was stripped down and had just the four seats in it.. and it was pegged at redline.. lol :rotfl:

I never knew a Humvee was capable of 80 mph. I've only had them up to 60 at redline....
